I'm back to blogging! I gave up on this for the longest time, but I want to write every day again. What made it so easy? I lost my job, yay! Now I have to relax and write if I want to. Seems like a good way to eliminate the stress. At least I hope so, because I'm pretty stressed out about it.
So I have a niece now, and this weekend is her first Easter. I got her a tiny little stuffed rabbit with big floppy ears. I got Cameron a chocolate chick with chocolate buttons in the middle. I'm not sure what the artistic intent behind that was, but it looked unique so it won. He's also getting some Lindt eggs. If I don't cave and eat those first of course.

On a Happier Note...
Valentine's day just ended! I hung out with my single friend Michael, a singer. We went back to Tandoori Flame for the greatest Indian buffet ever. After, we planned to see Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but the movie theatre resembled a mosh pit. That sucker was CROWDED. So we went to Blockbuster, where I bought District 9 and A Scanner Darkly. We watched the latter, as he has already seen District 9. Scanner was quite dark and weird, but quite interesting. I don't like a lot of Keanu films, but I iked this one.
Rest In Peace, Jessica Lloyd
I didn't know her, but I know someone who did. It's not fair when good people are murdered for no reason. Not for anyone.
Her death is a pretty big story here in Ontario. I'm not sure about the rest of Canada.
This anonymous person who knew her was postering her picture all over the place, trying to find her. She gave so much of her time and love. Hopefully Jessica knew in some way.
In anonymous' bio for a show she's working, she wrote, "I hope by the time this show opens, she will be found." About 2 days later, Jessica was found dead. She is of course being given a chance to change this. We are dedicating one of our shows to her memory.
I feel really bad for the family right now. In high school, my friend Paula suffered a similar situation. It wasn't full out murder, but her sister Sarah was killed. Some jackass stole a car and was trying to evade the police when he crashed into her. If that wasn't bad enough, press called her family for literally years trying to get a statement out of them. How awful can you be? How can anyone think this is okay? They should be given a chance to move on. Every time the guy was up for parole, they got more calls.
So I pray that Jessica's family is given the opportunity to have both peace and justice for their loved one.
Also, to the other woman that was killed. I have no connection to her, but she deserves all the same, as does her family.

Together Again for Haiti
There's this Evanescence song called together again that fans have known about since 2006, but it hasn't ever been heard. All of the die heard ev fans have been losing their minds knowing a song is out that they don't know. So the band made the awesome decision to release it through unfoundation.org for a minimum donation of $5.00. It was a great strategy, and I'm happy to say I donated.

Upgrade!
I'm volunteering as an assistant stage manager for V-day Toronto. That's a global anti-violence movement, specifically but not only for women. They do it all over the world, from New Zealand to Nairobi.
Well, the stage manager is backing out, so I'm getting it! I guess she didn't understand the time commitment. Apparently she was an SM only once before. She seemed very surprised that she got the heftier job over me, but it's because she was interviewed before me. Also, she's older, and has more life experience.
I just wish I was getting paid. Oh well. Working on something so affluent is still awesome.

Haiti
Yesterday, I went crazy cleaning. The bathroom is nearly spotless, and I cleaned a ton of old clothes out of my closet. I want to donate them to Haiti, but I'm having a hard time finding a place that will take them. I hear Red Cross might work, so I'll call them tomorrow.
Damn Polic Check
Late last year, I was doing this volunteer thing where I go to elementary schools and help out on musical theatre workshops. This year, I'm getting small homourariums to do it, and because that technically counts as getting paid, I had to submit to a police check. Now, I have never committed a crime, and wouldn't even think of doing something that would bar me from working with kids. But paperwork can be a pain in the ass. Case in point, in the time that has passed since I filled the form out, the laws on police checks has changed. I'm not quite sure what the story is, but it's sitll not complete. I wasn't able to go in last week. But my boss Donna has talked to the schools so they'll let me in tomorrow and Wednesday anyway. What a pain in the butt.
