Haiti
Yesterday, I went crazy cleaning. The bathroom is nearly spotless, and I cleaned a ton of old clothes out of my closet. I want to donate them to Haiti, but I'm having a hard time finding a place that will take them. I hear Red Cross might work, so I'll call them tomorrow.
Damn Polic Check
Late last year, I was doing this volunteer thing where I go to elementary schools and help out on musical theatre workshops. This year, I'm getting small homourariums to do it, and because that technically counts as getting paid, I had to submit to a police check. Now, I have never committed a crime, and wouldn't even think of doing something that would bar me from working with kids. But paperwork can be a pain in the ass. Case in point, in the time that has passed since I filled the form out, the laws on police checks has changed. I'm not quite sure what the story is, but it's sitll not complete. I wasn't able to go in last week. But my boss Donna has talked to the schools so they'll let me in tomorrow and Wednesday anyway. What a pain in the butt.
It's been a while...
I've been a bad poster lately. Or rather, a lazy poster.
Still unemployed. Had a great job interview last week. It was to stage manage over at the Distillery District. The lady running the interviews only called in 6 people, so I thought I had a real shot at it. But she went with someone else. First real job interview in theatre in the longest time, and nothing came of it. Thanks to the economy, as well as our self-indulgent Prime Minister, the theatre business is cut throat right now. Who knows when I'll be interviewed for another great show like that.
The dya I went to the interview was great. I have a new volunteer gig with V-day Canada as an assistant stage manager, and my interview was at 11am while the rehearsal was at 6:30pm. Sp I spent the whole day in Toronto. First, I went to my old office to visit. There's not much to do there until the Genie Awards relaly get going, so they were lugging boxes around. It's really bad there now. Everyone is quitting. They're telling me that I got out in perfect time. The big boss fired another boss and went all gestapo on everyone there, so they're all quitting, one by one. It's crazy. Sometimes I see the job listing and shake my head. Two more quit since I was there less than a week ago.
One of the listings was hilarious. They were trying to be subtle and say we want someone who will follow orders to the nines. Interesting...
After my visit, I went to the Eaton centre, the big downtown mall. I bought Apples to Apples, otherwise known as the coolest card game ever, the video game Mass Effect, and season 3 of Roseanne. I don't care what most people say, that show is timeless. I also got some new headphones. They're metallic and quite cool.
Michael C came to visit frm Waterloo yesterday, we saw Avatar (first time for him, second for me) and we went to Tandoori Flame for lunch. He absolutely loved the buffet. He was so funny when he came out of the bathroom "It's so damn clean in there! I thought I went into the ladies room!" HA

Backpedaling
I caved and got a twitter account. I decided that it may be good for work. I cant advertise on it. Plus, I check some singers' accounts for updates, why not follw them properly? But all of my original critiques still hold up.
Got an interview on Monday! Good point, it's happening in Brampton! That never happens. It's for a film festival that is super small and won't pay me in anything bigger than pennies from what I can tell, but it will be nice if I get it. It's what I did for the Geminis. I think that ensures I'll get it. But we'll see.
Saw the guys on Saturday. Stokes was a total dick. But he gets like that when he's drunk. He did apologize later, and that's why he and I are friends, despite our differences. The bar we went to had the crappiest drinks that I ever had. But it wasn't a bad night. Points to the guys for picking me up here in town.
Will be going back on Thursday to see Salini. They want to go back to Rock Bar, ick. But I really want to see her. Yay for friends visiting for the holidays!
Seeing Michael from Wonderland on Tuesday. We're going to Tandoori Flame for lunch. Giving him his movie back, maybe lending him one of mine. Maybe adding more plans, but not sure what yet.

Shopping
Today I bought my mom some gifts on Amazon. I found a flaw with this strategy. Sometimes my mother will ordering using my Amazon account. Amazon has that page when you log in saying, based on your recent purchases, we recommend this. If she sees that, she'll know exactly what I got her. So I can't let her order online!
I ordered her 4 books and a Wii game.

Booored! And Some Snow
I have made plans with so many people recently and every single one of them has cancelled. Its annoying, I've just been hanging out at home lately.
I got an e-mail from Lorne recently. He was the producer for my summer Fringe shows. Apparently Being At Home With Claude got picked up for Toronto Fringe this year. If he can get the cast back together, I'll go back and do that. So I may have something to work on coming up.
I applied recently to a small film festival, and they don't think I'm qualified enough! At least I think that's what they're thinking. I don't want to sound like I have a ton of pride, but I worked on the Gemini Awards! I did the same thing I applied for in this new internship. I should get it. I applied, and then I saw that they had put the job listing back up again. So today I sent them another message asking them on the status of my application. I hope that works out.
Snowed, finally! But it's not sticking. It's just annoying and cold. If it has to snow, then it should at least look pretty and stick! Oh, well.
Finished helping out at Bowmore Public School last week. The final production was a hoot. My job was to turn the lights on and off and whisper lines to kids when they forgot. Because they are small kids, they forgot often. The parents thought that was hilarious. I also helped build the cardboard set, and I took it upon myself to roam the hallways briefly and look for lost parents who couldnn't find the drama room. I found several. Next term they're doing The Sound Of Music, and Donna may call me back to help out. Josie, one of the kids, asked meto come back. That was cute.
But now I'm doing nothing. Bored, and no jobs are ever posted in December. I'll try to search Holiday shows.

Shocking News
Just found out that one of my university friends died close to three months ago and nobody told me. It's a real shock. But I'm not upset at anyone for that, because I don't talk to most of our mutual friends anymore.
His name was Michael Manos. He was 27, and he died in a motorcycle accident. I remember driving in her car a few years back, and he had incredible road rage. I wonder if that contributed in any way.
He was a friend of my roommate Sophie, and he loved all the same bands I do. I found out when I went to post on his wall on facebook to ask if he wanted to go to the Epica concert with me and Aled in February. There were all these notes of condolence there. I went to check our mutual friend Steve's profile just in case, and sure enough he a post that confirmed it. I found out through Google that it was a motorcycle accident. I couldn't bother someone I don't socialize with anymore after all this time.
I know its a bit overdue, but rest in peace, Michael.
